Celebrities and Cannabis
Cannabis is 'Ready for it's Close-Up!'
With the recent changes in Cannabis laws across the country (and particularly in the state of California) we are seeing it become less and less taboo in the mainstream. Celebrities have always chose to advocate for the underdogs and are generally the first to jump on any up and coming social campaigns. For this, we thank them and would like to recognize a few stand-out celebs that are bringing the medicinal aspects of Cannabis to the forefront of our societal discussions.
Ricki Lake is the most recent celebrity to hit the headlines with her new documentary focusing treating pediatric patients with cannabis. 'Weed The People' looks beyond the propaganda and politics on both sides of the issue to reveal the legitimate science behind cannabis medicine and the compelling stories of ordinary people whose lives are inescapably caught up in the controversy.
Celebrity Swag Smoke???
Even Oscar had gone ga-ga for the ganja! Some 50 packages of pre-rolls and jars of cannabis from a local California cannabis brand were provided to stars with dressing rooms — with permission from the Academy Awards and the Dolby Theater, according to a spokesman from that brand. It seems that the academy provides only the best and most current swag to it's members. Let's hope this translates to medicinal cannabis becoming more and more widely advocated for by Hollywood.
Celebrity travel host, Rick Steves, has been most recently advocating for cannabis reform in the state of Vermont. "I’m not pro-pot," the host of "Rick Steves' Europe" on PBS told the Vermont Senate Judiciary Committee. "I’m anti-prohibition." We in the legitimate cannabis business give thanks to those celebrities that are using their voice and influence to advocate for all of these issues. Thank you for opening the eyes of America to the benefits cannabis can bring to patients of all ages, promoting the repeal of an archaic prohibition system, and altering perception in the main stream of what is "taboo" and what is now quickly becoming socially acceptable. There are many more trend setters out there that are helping pave the way to a complete decriminalization of cannabis. Let's all be sure we support those brave individuals who are putting their reputations and careers on the line so that others may become more 'woke'. Kudos Hollywood!
